Rachel Safe for Now

With poor chart performances being suffered by a host of pop stars in 2003, the music industry looks set to cull a fair few well known names from their books. The latest rumour doing the rounds speculates that former S Club babe, Rachel Stevens’ days are numbered.

The 25-year-old pin-up’s second single Funky Dory could only manage to hit a lowly No.26 in the UK singles chart last weekend, which was a surprise considering Rachel’s last hit, Sweet Dreams My LA Ex reached No.2. On top of that her debut solo album of the same name has slumped to 79 in the charts suggesting that Rachel isn’t such a big draw after all.

A source says, “Things aren’t looking good for her. Everyone is quite shocked because she was by far the most loved member of S Club. Men adore her, she’s gorgeous.”

However, a spokesperson for Rachel’s record label, Polydor has reassured fans that Rachel’s safe for now at least. “Rumours are starting because of her low position in the charts but we are not worried because her previous hit did so well. She has been sabotaged by her own success but we will be staying loyal to her. She is great.”
