Rachel found ‘Strictly’ rejection ‘horrible’

Rachel Stevens has admitted that it was “horrible” to learn that her Strictly Come Dancing rival John Sergeant is more popular than her.

The former S Club star and her dance partner Vincent Simone were in the dance-off last weekend after failing to pick up viewer support, while Sergeant and Kristina Rihanoff continued to be backed by the public.

Judge Bruno Tonioli has since criticised supporters of Sergeant, while the rest of the panel are said to be “incredulous” over his popularity.

Asked to join the debate in an interview with The Mirror, Stevens revealed: “Erm, it’s not frustrating. It’s more… it’s just horrible.

“You know, John’s having his own personal journey just as much as anyone else. He’s having a good time. He’s very entertaining and lovable. He’s just himself and I think people connect with that. And all this fuss might be helping him win more votes.”

She added: “No, no. I can’t think about that kind of thing. All Vincent and I can do is concentrate on what we’re doing and performing the best we can. I don’t want to be in that dance-off again. I’m always really nervous at that part of the show because you never know what’s going to happen.”

Rachel and Alex set wedding date

Rachel Stevens and fiancé Alex Bourne have announced that they’ll get married next autumn.

The couple cancelled plans to wed this year so the singer, 30, could take part in Strictly Come Dancing.

“The wedding will be August or September next year, surrounded by everyone we love – and we’re both real foodies so lots of food,” Rachel says.

And Alex can’t wait to see her walk down the aisle.

“I won’t be able to take my eyes off her, she’s going to be the most beautiful bride,” he tells OK!.

‘The best thing about Rachel is that she’s Rachel, that’s all I can say.’

S Club 3

Pop band S Club 7 are reforming — but only three original members have signed up.

Jo O’Meara, 29, Bradley McIntosh, 27, and Paul Cattermole, 31, are rehashing their hits at universities and nightclubs for £3,000 per 20-minute set.

So far they have been booked for only a handful of appearances — in stark contrast to the recent sell-out reunion tours of Nineties acts like the Spice Girls and Take That. But pop promoter Terry Mills said: “It’s early days.

“They’ve got some good songs so I’m sure they’ll get bookings. Everyone deserves to make some cash in the credit crunch.”

The band were created by pop mogul Simon Fuller and reportedly made him £50million. They had a BBC TV series and made a movie before splitting in 2003.

Former members Tina Barrett, 32, Hannah Spearritt, 27, Jon Lee, 26, and 30-year-old Rachel Stevens could not be convinced to rejoin.

But ‘S Club 3′ will still perform a medley of their best hits including Reach and Don’t Stop Movin’.

A band source said: “People loved S Club 7 and their songs are still stuck in people’s heads. They figured, ‘why not cash in on that?’. Unfortunately the full line-up couldn’t be convinced.”
