It was a hard decision. Which career should he choose — performer or particle physicist? Paul certainly had the right family background. “My great grandfather was the managing director of Abbey Road Studios, my grandfather was a nanoelectronic particle physicist,” explains Paul. “I’m one of those strange people who actually liked physics at school.”

But when this actor, singer and music fanatic landed a part in a local performance of West Side Story, his mind was made up. He joined the National Youth Music Theatre’s production of Pendragon, through which he met fellow S Club 7 member Hannah. While saving up pennies with a variety of part-time jobs (including theatre doorman and ceramic hygienist) Paul took an acting and musical theatre course at Mountview Drama School and also started singing with a rock band. As second oldest, Paul takes charge of S Club 7 business at times. Although, he may have a grown-up head on his shoulders, he’s also described by the others as the joker of the band.
